Welcome to the Wolff Audio Blog
Wolff Audio makes analog studio equipment designed by Paul Wolff, whose work goes back to the API Discrete Series. This blog is where we write about the studio side of that work: how to set up a room so it's fast and clean, and why our own gear is built the way it is.
What does Wolff Audio make?
The current lineup, by category:
- Consoles: Console ST
- EQ: Freq
- Monitoring: MeMore and Collaborator
- Patch bays: ProPatch, a relay-based patch bay you control from a web browser
What will this blog cover?
Mostly two things. The first is studio fundamentals: practical guides on signal flow, routing and setup. Our first one is How to Set Up a Studio Patch Bay, which goes from levels and normalling through hybrid DAW routing.
The second is how our gear works. That means the reasoning behind a circuit or a feature, written for engineers rather than for a spec sheet. When engineers using Wolff gear tell us how it fits into their sessions, we'll share that here too.
We won't post on a schedule just to fill one. A post goes up when there's something useful to say.
